A New Chapter in My Photography

This year feels like a turning point — both as a mom and as a photographer. With all three of my kids in school full-time, I’ve been thinking about how I want to grow my business while staying present for my family. This reflection led me to focus on what truly lights me up: Lifestyle Maternity, Newborn, and Family Photography.

Why This Feels Right — For My Family and Yours

Like so many working parents, I’ve been searching for that delicate balance between supporting my family financially and still being present for the moments that matter most at home. Photography allows me that flexibility — to create a steady, reliable income while still  being active in our kids busy lives.

This shift allows me to pour my energy into the work I love so much — capturing real, heartfelt connections for other families during some of life’s most beautiful seasons.

Building Something That Feels Like “Home”

Over the past couple of years, I’ve moved my business to my home studio in Sherwood Park, a space that’s cozy, calm, and filled with natural light. I’ve been curating a client wardrobe — pieces that photograph beautifully and bring a consistent, timeless look to my work.

This has been a slow and intentional process (and yes, sometimes I’ve been guilty of wanting it all to happen overnight). But now, it’s finally coming together in a way that feels authentic and aligned with my style.

The Truth About the Journey

I’ll be honest — there have been days when I’ve wondered if I should just get a “real” job and trade the uncertainty for something more predictable. There have been moments when I’ve felt like an imposter, questioning whether I could really make this work long-term.

But from what I hear, that’s a common feeling among creative entrepreneurs — and I’m learning to see it as part of the growth process. I’m so thankful for my business allies — other photographers and creatives who cheer me on, collaborate on fun, soul-filling styled shoots, and remind me why I started in the first place.

My Greatest Support System

Through all of this, my husband has been my rock. He has encouraged me when I’ve doubted myself, supported me when the workload felt heavy, and celebrated every small victory along the way. Without his belief in me — and without the joy, patience, and love of our kids — I simply wouldn’t be where I am in this journey.

They’ve seen me work late nights, try new things, and pick myself back up after challenges. And they’ve reminded me, in their own ways, why I do this — to build a life where we have more time together and where I’m doing something that truly makes me happy.

Creativity Has Always Been My Outlet

Not everyone knows this about me, but I’m also deeply passionate about home design, thrifting, and creating beautiful, inviting spaces. Friends often comment that our home feels peaceful and warm — something I’ve intentionally cultivated over the years.

In difficult seasons of life, I’ve turned to rearranging furniture, redecorating, or treasure-hunting at thrift stores as a way to process and cope. That love for creating beauty carries over into my photography — from the way I style a newborn session to the way I edit each gallery.

Grateful for the Journey

When I look back on the past few years, I see a lot of trial and error, a lot of hard work, and more than a few moments of self-doubt. But I also see the faces of the families I’ve photographed, the milestones I’ve helped preserve, and the trust people have placed in me.

I wouldn’t trade any of it.

So here’s my vow: to keep pushing, keep growing, and keep learning so that I can better serve the families who invite me into their most meaningful moments.

To everyone who has supported me along the way — booked a session, shared my work, or simply sent an encouraging message — thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m so excited for this next chapter and the beautiful stories we’ll create together.
